Michael Lappen is a Los Angeles–based director and producer, and a graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. His work is defined by a sharp, visually driven sense of comedy—finding levity in unexpected places and turning everyday moments into precise, satisfying payoffs.

With an emphasis on composition, timing, and camera language, Michael builds stories that feel both effortless and exacting. His work often begins with a simple premise, then escalates through performance and visual rhythm into something surprising, human, and quietly revealing.

His commercial work includes campaigns for brands such as Sweetfin, Mosh, Dream Pops, Tonies, Cedars-Sinai, and Vibe.co, alongside music videos for artists including Galantis, Frankie Jonas, and Aaryan Shah.

Across formats, his focus remains consistent: to embed narrative into everything he creates—however subtle—and to craft work that resonates beyond its immediate purpose. His films are designed to entertain first, inviting an emotional response rooted in humor, recognition, and release.

His sensibility is broadly accessible but distinct, balancing commercial clarity with a considered stylistic edge. The result is work that connects easily, while still leaving a lasting impression.
